Welp, This One Hurt.
“I’m worse off than before I took your program.”
This is actually something has said on a call with us.
THANKFULLY, THIS WAS NOT ABOUT OUR PROGRAM.
It was in reference to another program she had taken and what she had said to the coach as feedback after she had enrolled and quickly learned that this coach was not walking her talk nor delivering what she promised. Unfortunately, we hear variations of this sentiment ALL THE TIME.
Let me tell you, as educators first, marketers second, we would have been absolutely crushed to receive this feedback because our whole drive to offer group programs is to make an impact– to leave people better than we found them, and to deliver the transformation (however big or small) we’ve promised they’d get by working with us or enrolling in our programs.
It’s one thing to enroll and not do the work and have the shame of buyer’s remorse. THAT'S DIFFERENT THAN WHAT WE ARE TALKING ABOUT HERE.
Instead, this woman we were chatting with had realized that she had fallen prey to this particular coach’s slick marketing tactics without getting a return on her investment of time, energy and money-- and that there was no recompense for the situation. A refund refusal and a blaming/shaming of the student.
This is not OK in our book.
